I grew up in the High Desert and have been around ministry since I was a young child. My father raised us to know God's Word, as he was a pastor at Calvary Chapel of Phelan. Early on, as I grew in age, I came to question the God of my father. For some reason, Jesus became no more than just a story told in Sunday school. So, needless to say, when I was old enough to make my own choices, I chose the wide, more popular path that leads to destruction. I was allured by the trappings of this world and the thrill of sin.  I first started drinking to overcome my shyness, but it was not long before alcohol became my motivation for waking up in the morning. I became a drunkard and shameless drug user.

When my bondage to alcohol and many other vices destroyed my first marriage, I was at an all-time low. You can say rock bottom. At that time, I met a new girl who had as much anger and hate in her heart as I did. We both had hurts that alcohol and marijuana could not fix. Instead of turning to the God of my father, whom I knew was relentlessly pursuing me, we instead tried to fill the void with harder drugs and continued to walk the path of self-destruction. I came to a crossroad, and I knew we needed to change.

We thought moving out of the High Desert would allow us to escape, so we moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Needless to say, we established our lives in a new town, but we quickly found the problem followed us there. We were monsters through and through, and we naturally were drawn to wicked men and joined the party in our new city.  I started working with a drug dealer, and things got worse and much darker for us.

Now, my father and mother had a relentless prayer campaign going on daily for us. And here in this darkness, God began to shine His marvelous light. My girlfriend saw a movie, The Passion of Christ, and in that theater, without an evangelist preaching, she saw that Man on the cross and wept because the Spirit of the Living God revealed to her that Man, who was a stranger to her, died for her. She fled the theater in tears but did not understand it at all. The young lady who lived with me grew sick of our lifestyle, and that Man on the Cross never left her thoughts, and she wanted to change her life.

So, Easter Sunday, 2004, she went to church and dragged me along with her. That day, she heard Pastor Ray preach the Gospel, and my girlfriend met Jesus for the first time in her life. She told me things were going to be different; I just laughed and told her she would forget about it in a day or so.

Sure enough, she did change, and God took her chains of addiction, and He freed her from the bondage she was in, and she resisted and escaped temptation at every turn. I watched the God of my father transform an 87-pound tweaker girl into a beautiful woman before my eyes. As she grew closer to Jesus, she realized we were living in sin and convinced me to marry her so she could live right in her Savior’s eyes.

Shortly thereafter, I surrendered my life to Jesus, and He grabbed hold of our hearts. We got involved with the church quickly, as we knew we needed accountability. The pastor and church in Havasu loved us like their own family. We were discipled and immediately started serving the Lord. We served in the Children's Ministry, where my wife learned the Old Testament with the 3-5-year-olds we were teaching. We served as ushers, and to this day, my wife has been the best usher I have ever seen in action. We then got involved in youth ministry, and wherever Pastor Ray asked us to go, we learned to say yes. He took us on mission trips and outreaches all over the world and, unbeknownst to us, was preparing us for full-time ministry.

In 2009, Pastor Ray sent us out into full-time ministry to serve with my father as his youth pastor here in the High Desert again. While in Apple Valley, we served with excitement as we watched God do amazing and impossible things in the youth.

While being content to serve in Apple Valley for the rest of my life, in 2015, God had other plans and opened a door for us at a little church down the street, in Old Town Victorville, for us to serve the people here. We said yes, and I am serving as the Senior Pastor here currently.

Here at Calvary Old Town, the Lord has put a burden on our hearts for the lost. Our heart’s desire is that the lost would hear about the unending love of God for them. My wife and I have experienced the life-changing forgiveness and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and we want to share it with whoever will give us an ear.

I am excited to be able to work with the community here in Victorville. I look forward in great anticipation of the awesome work God has for my wife and I as His instruments of hope and salvation to our new community and beyond.

Lastly, after hearing for many years that we would never be able to have children of our own, God has done the impossible and blessed us with three wonderful daughters, Sofia, Lola, Daisy,  and three sons, Freedom, Cruz, and Uriah.

I did not attend Bible College or Seminary before entering the ministry. I studied horticulture for a couple of years in college before I found my calling in construction. I love to build. So, God took me through a different school when I surrendered my life to Him. In His great wisdom, He used the sun as it beat on my back for 5 years, framing houses in Lake Havasu City. It was on the job site that I began to listen to Chuck Smith, J. Vernon McGee, Charles Stanly, Damien Kyle, David Guzik, Chuck Swindoll, Jim Cymbala, and many other Bible teachers whom God used to wash my mind and teach me His ways. I began immediately reading any book I could get my hands on. I call this time of my life my “great humbling.” God taught me to hear His voice. He had me share His Gospel with the lowest, most filthy men who walk this earth, and I witnessed that the Gospel changed many lives there on the job site. I learned leadership and problem-solving and developed a work ethic, framing those miserable houses in that unforgiving desert. God dealt with my pride in those years, and looking back, I see my schooling was much like Moses in the deserts of Midian. At the time, I begged God to take me off the job to get better equipped for the ministry that I knew I was called to. But now, looking back, I would not change a thing; I thank God for the lessons that adversity taught me. In the summer of 2023, after serving the Lord for over 15 years in the ministry, I received a B.A. in Biblical Studies – Christian Leadership from Calvary Chapel University (https://calvarychapeluniversity.edu). My education still continues to this day.

Worship ministry has always been a big part of my life. Since I was a young child, my family has served the Lord with music and song.

It was at a high school camp where I truly surrendered my life to Jesus and almost immediately He called me to lead worship in our youth group at Calvary Chapel of Apple Valley. I served the Lord in that capacity for 5 years. Then, in January 2016, God called me to Calvary Chapel Victorville to serve as a worship leader and later, as an assistant pastor. 

Through my years of serving, The Lord has brought me to the understanding that we must offer him something of greater value than mere musical skill and fancy equipment. 

John 4:24

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

If we are going to bring an offering of worship to our Lord, then it must be one that is led by His Spirit and firmly grounded only in the truths of His Word. Our vision for the Worship Ministry here at Calvary Chapel Victorville is to worship along side the body, and to sing and play worship that is simple and centered only on Jesus.

I was raised knowing the Word of God. From the time I can remember, I was raised in church, where I attended Sunday school and youth group. I attended all the events and even youth camps that I could be a part of, but there was something missing in my life, a personal relationship with Jesus.

I was called into the ministry at a young age, but I refused to surrender my life my life to Him. When I was in high school, there was a change in pastoral leadership at my church I was attending, and my parents stopped going to church. At that time, I determined that if they didn’t need to attend church, neither did I.

I spent almost my entire young adult life living for myself and my flesh. I immersed myself in the pleasures of the world and all it had to offer. My lifestyle of partying and drinking, and sexual immorality, led to nothing short of disaster in my life.

One day, I hit rock bottom and lost everything. I remembered in that moment all I had been taught when I was in youth group. I felt the love of Jesus cover me like a warm blanket, and for the first time in my life, I didn’t know OF Jesus, but I experienced and KNEW Jesus. The real Jesus, the Living God. I was instantly filled with joy and filled with the Holy Spirit as I surrendered to Him, and my life has never been the same since.

I am reminded of I John 2:15-17:

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

  I am thankful that the LORD called me out of the destruction of sin and into a relationship with Him. I am so thankful for God’s grace and mercy towards me:

Ephesians 2:4-5

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)”

I now pour out my life to the Lord in service to Him, and I am humbled and thankful that the Lord would use a sinner like me, barely saved for His Kingdom. I understand the importance of teaching our youth at a young age God’s word, but most importantly, who Jesus is. The real Jesus. Hello, my name is Anna Eden. I was born and raised in the High Desert, and Calvary Old Town has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I first started attending around the age of 11, off and on, and began coming consistently when I was 14. During those years, I was involved in youth group and eventually began interning in the church office.

    I never had a “life plan”; I simply wanted to follow wherever the Lord was leading me. Along the way, I started serving in the Worship Ministry, which has been a blessing. In 2023, I was offered the position of bookkeeper here at Calvary Old Town, and I accepted the role. It came at a weird time in my life, as I was navigating my first job, graduating, and preparing to move out on my own. But through every challenge, the Lord guided me.

Like any believer, I still face struggles, but I live with peace knowing that I can always trust God, which is pretty evident to me because I’ve made it this far…

   I’m excited to see what more the Lord has in store for me and for this church.

I grew up going to church, but I never really had my own relationship with the Lord until I got older. My parents got divorced when I was younger, and it was hard with the going back and forth and having to grow up with two different lifestyles. One Christian and one in the world.  Elementary/middle school was when the world began opening bad doors, and I had gone through those doors for a long time. Addictions, suicidal attempts, lust, drinking, and smoking to numb my pain. While I still loved Jesus and felt conviction because I was still going to church, I was still selfish, and I lived that way.

I got suspended from school my freshman year of high school, and I went to live with my aunt, who showed me how to raise a family and taught me real Christian values. She helped me come back to the Lord. I thought I was happy and fixed, but when I came back home, I fell right back into the same sins I was in before. While still mad at the Lord for so many stupid things, I no longer wanted to go to church. My parents had come to Calvary Old Town at the beginning of 2024, and I was upset and angry, and I refused to come. I eventually did, and I listened as Pastor Gary taught, as I was hungover from the night before. Still knowing the sins I was in were wrong, and feeling the conviction, it didn’t matter to me.

June 20th of 2024, I was in my room about to give in to the same sins I had been in since I was little. I broke harder than ever before, and I gave my life fully and wholeheartedly to the Lord. I gave up everything I was trying to fill the void that was missing. Jesus was all I needed. I met so many friends after that at that year's Vacation Bible school. I went to Mexico with the youth group that year and fell in love with serving the Lord and His people. I started serving here as much as I could.

At the end of 2025, Pastor Gary had offered me the job here as the secretary. I was in so much disbelief that he would even consider me. Never in my life would I have pictured I'd be where I am now. The Lord has brought me out of the deepest holes and is using me for His glory. As I'm still not perfect, I know He is, and when I struggle, I know He is all I’m missing, and He is who I turn to. It’s still hard sometimes, but I know life without Him. And I will never choose to go back to that life. Thank You, Jesus.
