Many people see addiction as a disease, but Scripture teaches that it begins with personal choices rooted in our sinful nature. God calls these actions sin not to control us, but because they harm us and those we love. Addiction often leads to other destructive behaviors—lying, anger, stealing, and broken relationships. Whether the struggle is drugs, alcohol, pornography, adultery, overeating, or emotional strongholds like anxiety or depression, Jesus offers freedom.
What is One Step to Freedom (OSTF)?
OSTF is a Christ-centered, biblical program recognized by county probation departments. It goes beyond substance abuse, addressing any life-dominating sin or behavior. The “one step” is choosing to follow Jesus and His Word, which brings true freedom. There is no cost, no pressure, and no requirement—just the hope of a new life in Christ.
One sober coach shared that despite intensive care, only one percent of her clients stay sober long-term—and those are the ones who choose Jesus. The world may say addiction is a lifelong disease, but the Bible teaches that Jesus can set us free, not just help us manage sin. While withdrawal and change are difficult, God gives strength, hope, and transformation from the inside out.
Jesus said, “Come to Me… and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Through His power, people experience real and lasting change—sometimes instantly, sometimes through a process, but always by His grace.
OSTF is a tool God uses to bring victory. It only takes one step—to Jesus.
